Assignment for Friday, July 1

Find one or more examples of petitions (or whatever type of Public document your group has chosen to compose) and bring them to class.

One place to start is the following websites, which have many examples of petitions:
http://www.ipetitions.com/index.html
http://www.petitiononline.com/petition.html
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/

Continue background research for your Public Document. What is the current state of affairs for the specific issues you are addressing? What background reading do you need to do? To whom can you talk to get necessary information? To whom should the petition be addressed (or, who is the intended audience for your Public Document)?
